The City of Fremont pitched in $5,000 for the bonuses, and eager shoppers have already snapped up 75-percent of that money. Enter Seagate Technology — the company contributed another $5,000 in funds. “Many small businesses are hurting economically because of the shelter-in-place regulations aimed at fighting COVID-19,” said Patricia Frost, senior vice president, chief human resources officer, internal communications and community engagement, Seagate Technology. “The Gift Fremont program is an innovative way to directly help.”
Fremont Mayor Lily Mei is pleased with the program,“Fremont is defined by a rich history and culture that can clearly be seen through our small independent businesses that proudly chose Fremont as home, many of whom have been adversely impacted by the pandemic. Gift Fremont combats these financial impacts by not only showcasing our local small businesses, but also stimulating the local economy and uniting our community through this challenging time by utilizing technology and creativity.”
