Drug Take Back Day To Be Held In Fremont: Save The Date

FREMONT, CA — Have unwanted prescription drugs? The Fremont Police Department can help.

The Fremont Police Department, with the help of the Drug Enforcement Administration, will be hosting a free event on Saturday, Oct. 25, to help anyone looking to dispose of any unwanted prescription drugs anonymously.

The "National Prescription Drug Take Back Day" is part of a nationwide effort to combat the opioid epidemic by providing people with a proper way to dispose of their unwanted medication.

"Unused medications around your house are more than just clutter. If improperly disposed of, they can contribute to medication misuse, drug addiction or contamination of the water supply," the Fremont Police Department said in a statement Thursday. "

Police ask that anyone looking to get rid of their unwanted pills visit the Fremont Elk Lodge on the day of the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pet prescription medication and tightly sealed liquid medication will be accepted, police said. However, vape devices, sharps or needles, batteries and inhalers will not, they added.
