Fremont Musicians Send Music & Love to Special Needs Orphans in China

Young Musicians perform at Santa Clara University on Sunday, June 8 at 2:30 pm. Fundraiser for a Tianjin orphanage run by POP's Foundation.

Join us for a benefit concert with Ker Qi’s Violin Studio on June 8 at Santa Clara University! All proceeds go to support POP's Foundation, a charity organization that specializes in serving disabled and abandoned orphans in Tianjin, China.

Featured violin and viola musicians---Michael Liu, Claire Yang, Andrew Luo, Jasleen Lu, Ishani Roy, Gurchit Singh, Michael Li, Jessica Li, Hanyu Zhou, Ivy Zhang and Lucas Li---are all students of Mr. Ker Qi, a renowned music educator in Fremont. Mr. Qi graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the top music university in China. Later he obtained two master’s degrees in Music in the US. For decades, he has provided rigorous and passionate instructions to students, many of whom have moved on to become excellent musicians and citizens. Mr. Qi also imparts to his students the spirit of giving back to the community and of helping to make the world a better place. Through benefit concerts over the years, his students have raised over $25,000 for various organizations.

Our performers will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Anny Cheng, who received her doctoral degree in Collaborative Piano from Arizona State University. With a passion in collaborative art, Dr. Cheng has performed in many countries, including Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Ireland, Taiwan and the US.

Special thanks go to Mr. Qi for organizing the concert and his dedication to teaching music for decades, and to parents of our young musicians who work tirelessly behind the scenes. We appreciate all the performers who practice countless hours to deliver their best for a great cause.
