FREMONT, CA — There's probably nothing that enjoys a storm as much as vegetation does.

The recent storms that hit California left the Golden State drought-free for the first time in 25 years — and if lush green hills like the ones in Fremont are the outcome, I hope we can maintain it drought-free.

"Recent rains turned the East Bay Hills to a deep green," Praveen Bhatia, who took this photograph last week at Mission Peak in Fremont, told Patch News. "And when we get respite from the rains, the scenery is just out of this world - patchy clouds, surreal sunlight giving the hills all the shades of green, cows enjoying the pasture, and raptors soaring in the skies."
