Meet The New Police K9 Team

They are the second team on the department with Rusty's specialized capability, spreading coverage across the entire week.

FREMONT, CA — The Fremont Police Department has a new K-9 team.

Rusty, who is trained to detect explosive materials and gunshot residue, and his partner Officer Narro.

On his first day at work, Rusty helped detectives locate a handgun during an investigation.

Rusty is the department's second explosives detection dog, joining K-9 Nala.

The Fremont PD now has explosives-detection coverage 7 days a week.
