Save The Date For The City Of Fremont's Community Block Party Coming In September

The block party will transform Ellsworth Street in the historic Mission San Jose District into a lively and welcoming neighborhood.

In partnership with the Better Block Foundation, the city of Fremont will host a Community Block Party Sept. 9 and 10.

The party will temporarily transform Ellsworth Street in the historic Mission San Jose District into a lively, safe and welcoming neighborhood space and thriving commercial district for all.

The goal, the city said, is to ultimately help to spark creativity around the use of the Mission San Jose town center, which is anchored by the historic Mission San Jose church and museum.

Dozens of volunteers will paint, build and bring to life the community-led vision, the city said in a recent news release, adding that over a six-week period of time, Better Block collected over 130 responses from the local community to ignite inspiration for what would make the area a thriving commercial district that everyone can enjoy.

Held at the intersection of Ellsworth Street and Washington Avenue, the free event — open from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday — will offer food trucks, a beer and wine garden, a makers’ market, an art gallery and live entertainment.
