Sketch Of Attempted Kidnapping Suspect Released By Union City Police

UNION CITY, CA — Police have released a sketch of a man suspected of trying to kidnap an 11-year-old girl in Union City last week.
The suspect was described as a heavyset male, roughly six feet tall, with dark tan skin and dark brown medium-length hair, the Union City Police Department said.
He also had vertical scars, tattoos on both index fingers, running from the third to second knuckle and may have been speaking in another language when he attempted to kidnap the girl, police said.

The attempted kidnapping happened as the girl was riding a scooter in the area of Dyer Street and Meteor Drive, the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 22, the Union City Police Department said.
As she rode the scooter, the man pulled her by the hood of her sweater, police said. The girl was not injured during the incident, and she reported it to staff at Itliong-Vera Cruz Middle School, police said.

Police said the suspect was associated with a dark-colored sedan with non-tinted windows, rosary beads hanging from the rearview mirror and possible damage on the back of the car. It's unclear if the suspect was trying to pull the girl into the car or if he had been driving it.
