Man Attempts to Lure Child Inside Van
A man tried to lure a child into his van as she walked home from a local elementary school Wednesday, according to police. A citizen flagged down an officer and reported the incident at around 1 p.m. A parent of the child also called 911 to report a man trying to get his daughter inside a van near Millard Elementary School, located at 5200 Valpey Park Ave. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult in his late 30s with slick black hair and a small mustache. Mission San Jose Grieves Loss of Student

The Fremont Unified School District provided extra counselors at Mission San Jose High School Thursday after a student committed suicide off-campus earlier this week, according to media reports. The Fremont Argus reports that the female student, a 17-year-old junior, committed suicide on Monday, but additional details were not disclosed. For the full report, click here.
Man Killed in I-680 Collision

A 65-year-old San Jose man in Fremont was killed in a I-680 collision Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The four-vehicle collision, located near Vargas Road, was reported around 4:30 a.m. A Sig-alert was issued about 10 minutes later, according to the CHP. For more information,click here .

Fremont Residents Express Frustrations Over Newark's New Signs
A new electronic billboard and automall sign in Newark along Interstate 880 has upset some Fremont residents, according to media reports.The two signs, which measure 85 feet tall, comply with city and state laws, but Fremont residents told The Fremont Argus that the signs are an “eye sore” and have downgraded their neighborhoods’ “upscale look. Police Release Sketch of Home Invasion Suspect
Newark police have released a sketch of a burglary suspect who punched a female victim in the face Friday morning. According to the Newark Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. when a male suspect entered a Marsten Drive home through a rear yard window. The suspect was last seen running eastbound on Central Avenue toward Cedar Boulevard. Click here to see the sketch and for a full description of the suspect.
Burglar Parks in Target's Driveway
A residential burglary reported at 6:52 p.m. Thursday on the 5900 block of Mayhews Landing Road was likely the work of a man whom a neighbor saw pulling into the victim's driveway at 10:30 a.m. Described as a thin Asian male, 5'10" and 25 to 30 years old, he was driving a newer, light blue Toyota. And he was later seen exiting the home's front door with a computer bag. His entry was through a small bathroom window, accessed from the backyard. Losses were a laptop and cash. UNION CITY
Developers Place Bids for Cabello Campus
The New Haven Board of Education accepted 11 proposals for developers interested in purchasing the former Cabello Elementary School site this week. The offers ranged from $6.4 million to $14.7 million from developers such as Pulte Homes, KB Homes, Ponderosa Homes and Dutra Enterprises, among others. The board has 30 to 60 days to select a proposal. The district announced that it would be selling the former Cabello site, located at 4500 Cabello St., in October.
Logan Wrestlers Sweep Competition at State Tournament
James Logan High School students dominated at a wrestling tournament held last weekend. Jacob Macalolooy, Jacob Donato and Raymond Monela placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively, at the Junior Freestyle State Tournament. Click here for more details.
Man Gets Frisky With Himself In Dollar Tree Parking Lot
A passerby got more than great savings at the Dollar Tree on Decoto Road. The witness reported seeing a man masturbating while sitting in front in his white Pontiac Trans Am parked in front of the store. The incident occurred at about 5:22 p.m. Officers responded to the scene, detained and identified the suspect. However, the witness declined prosecution so the suspect was not arrested.
