According to the White House Press Office, the event, held in observance of AAPI Heritage Month, recognizes “women who are doing extraordinary things to create a more equal, safe, and prosperous future for their communities and the country.”

“These fifteen women represent the strength and diversity of the AAPI community.  These leaders — in business, advocacy, philanthropy, sports, the arts, and academia — are wonderful examples for young women across the country,” Valerie Jarrett, senior advisor to the president and chair of the White House Council on Women and Girls, said in a statement.

According to an online bio, Eusebio is an undocumented youth herself who has played a significant role in the movement for immigrant rights. Among her various efforts she served as a leader for Asian Students Promoting Immigrant Rights through Education (ASPIRE) and helped spearhead the first Asian American undocumented youth conference.

Eusebio is currently a social justice fellow at San Francisco-based Asian American/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, according to the White House Press Office. There, she manages the organization’s API Dream Summer program, which supports leadership development in immigrant youth. She also serves on the board of directors of United We Dream, a network of immigrant youth-led organizations.

While we all can’t be at the capitol to congratulate Eusebio, you can watch the Champions of Change event live online next Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. PST at www.whitehouse.gov/live at 1:00 pm ET on Monday, May 6th.
