After several deaths, Fresno community is trying to keep its unhoused population warm (abc30.com) — Fresno Mission is ramping up beds, coats, and services after two recent cold-related deaths, aiming to keep unhoused residents safe through winter. With a $100,000 donation and coat drive from Community Health System, the nonprofit is pairing emergency shelter with classes, schooling, and long-term support to help families and individuals move into stable housing.
   

2. Fresno Co. Program Providing Mental Health Support for Students During Winter Break (kmjnow.com) — Families in Fresno County can access free All 4 Youth mental health services for students up to age 25 throughout winter break, including at wellness centers like the one at Orange Center Elementary. Officials say the year‑round program helps with everything from counseling to basic needs like clothing and applications, aiming to ease the transition back to school after the holidays.

Fresno City Council selects business park alternative for SEDA, directs further analysis (kmph.com) — Fresno’s City Council has chosen a “Consolidated Business Park” layout as the preferred direction for the massive Southeast Development Area, but sent the plan back for more study before any final vote. Over the next several months, staff will analyze fiscal impacts, infrastructure financing, and phasing safeguards for the nearly 9,000-acre southeast Fresno project before it returns for future public hearings.

Police say pedestrians make up most of the victims on Fresno streets and are boosting enforcement along busy corridors, while Clovis officers also report deadly crashes and growing concerns over impaired driving and e-bikes.

Fresno's 100-year-old lanterns: hidden holiday gems found (yourcentralvalley.com) — Construction work in Fresno’s Chinatown unexpectedly unearthed more than 80 century-old metal lanterns that once lit up Fulton Street during Downtown Fresno’s early Christmas celebrations. Local historians have now traced their origins and hope to restore and eventually display them again, potentially in future Fresno holiday parades, giving residents a tangible link to the city’s festive past.
