1 Dead After Motorcycle Collides With Vehicle On State Highway 8 In Gilroy
A 53-year-old man died Saturday evening after he crashed his motorcycle outside Gilroy, according to the California Highway Patrol.

SOUTH BAY, CA -- A 53-year-old man died Saturday evening after he crashed his motorcycle outside Gilroy, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported around 5:25 p.m. on April 15 at Leavesley and Holsclaw roads, east of Gilroy near Llagas Creek.
The Gilroy resident crashed his 2007 Harley-Davidson into a vehicle described as a 2000 Ford that had been traveling west on Leavesley at about 10 mph in the left turn lane, CHP Officer Chris Miceli said.

The motorcyclist was riding east on Leavesley when the 22-year-old Gilroy man driving the Ford steered left toward Holsclaw, directly into the path of the motorcycle, Miceli said.
While the Ford was traveling across the eastbound lane, the motorcycle crashed into the right rear door of the Ford.

Emergency personnel administered first aid to the motorcyclist and transported him to Regional Medical Center of San Jose, where he died at 6:40 p.m. His name has not yet been released.
A 21-year-old Gilroy man riding in the Ford complained of pain to his right arm, but no other injuries were reported.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash has been asked to call the CHP at (408) 848-2324 and ask to speak with Officer J. Smith.
