2 Earthquakes Felt In South Bay, Peninsula, Santa Cruz
Both quakes struck near San Martin; the first one was recorded at 12:35 p.m., the U.S. Geological Survey said.
SAN MARTIN, CA— A magnitude 3.4 earthquake struck San Martin around 12:35 p.m. Friday, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake hit 8 miles north of Gilroy and 6 miles south of Morgan Hill and was felt in both towns, according to responses submitted to the USGS. People in Redwood City, Aptos, Capitola, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara were among those who also felt the quake.
Ten minutes later, a 2.0-magnitude earthquake also struck near San Martin, the USGS said.

No injuries or damages were immediately reported.
The earthquakes were on the Calaveras Fault. The 2003 Working Group for California Earthquake Probability assigned an 11 percent probability that the Calaveras Fault would produce a magnitude 6.7 or larger earthquake in the next 30 years.
