Christmas Eve Burglar Arrested For Nearly 20 Break-Ins: Gilroy Police
The man is tied to nearly 20 burglaries targeting businesses and vehicles, including six on Christmas Eve, police said.

GILROY, CA — A man associated with six burglaries on Christmas Eve — and nearly 20 in the past several years — was recently arrested in Gilroy, according to police.
Alexis Mata, 29, of Gilroy, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of burglary and vandalism, and booked into Santa Clara County jail, police said, adding the arrest was the result of hundreds of hours of law enforcement work.
Mata is associated with nearly 20 commercial and vehicle burglaries that have occurred since November 2022 and is suspected of smashing the windows of businesses, stealing cash registers, and making off with thousands of dollars worth of money and other items, according to police.
