Construction Set For Parking Lot In Gilroy's Historic Downtown

Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an anticipated opening in early 2023.

GILROY, CA — Construction is set to begin in Gilroy on the Eigleberry and 7th Street parking lot as part of a project that will provide 140 parking spaces to Gilroy’s historic downtown area.

Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an anticipated opening in early 2023.

There will be minimal lane closures and traffic impacts, according to the city. But neighboring residents and businesses were warned to expect noise and dust during construction time.

The parking spaces will be a mix of standard, compact, accessible, clean air, motorcycle and EV charging spaces, and the project will also include new landscaping, lighting, bicycle lockers and a pathway to downtown.
