Fatal Collision Occurs On Hwy 101 After Motorcycle Weaves Through Traffic: CHP
A fatal motorcycle collision occurred Monday afternoon on U.S. Highway 101 on the southern edge of Gilroy, according to the CHP.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A fatal motorcycle collision was reported Monday afternoon on U.S. Highway 101 on the southern edge of Gilroy, according to the California Highway Patrol. It was the third fatal Gilroy crash involving a motorcycle in about a week.
The incident was reported just after 4 p.m. April 24 on southbound Highway 101 at Mesa Road, near the Carnadero area.
According to CHP officials, the motorcyclist had been speeding and cutting through traffic before it collided with a white delivery truck.

The motorcyclist involved in the collision had been riding alongside a second motorcycle, CHP officials said.
Both southbound lanes of the highway were reportedly blocked at 4:09 p.m. Motorists were using the shoulder of the road to get through as of 4:28 p.m.

The incident comes after two men died in separate motorcycle collisions east of Gilroy last week.
