Crash Joins Fire & Ice In So Bay Plaguing Hwys 152, 101 Wednesday

GILROY, CA -- State Route 152 near Gilroy has now had issues with both the morning and evening commute.

The latest -- a crash was reported west of Pole Line Road, blocking at least one lane, the California Highway Patrol updated as of 3 p.m.

In the morning, Mother Nature provided quite a mix for the commute, starting with the CHP issuing a severe traffic alert on State Route 152 because of icy lanes on the westbound side east of Casa De Fruta Parkway. That problem was solved.

To the north, a crash with injuries was reported at the offramp on the northbound side of U.S. Highway 101 south of Metcalf Road near Coyote.

Farther north, the CHP also responded to a fire on the major highway at Story Road in San Jose. Lanes that were affected on both the north- and southbound sides have been cleared.
