Gilroy-Area Vietnam War Veterans Featured In New Documentary

The film, "Our Vietnam Veterans," will be previewed next week at a Gilroy After Hours Rotary club meeting.

GILROY, CA — The Gilroy After Hours Rotary club is previewing a film featuring local Vietnam War veterans created through the Veterans’ Film Education Program at its meeting next Tuesday.

L. Mattock Scariot, the director of the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival, will share part of the new veterans documentary and speak about the project. The entire film, "Our Vietnam Veterans," will be shown at the upcoming film festival.

Veterans from Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Hollister and San Juan Bautista, some of whom have never previously shared their stories of war, are featured in the film.

The veterans who will be in attendance at the meeting include: Ray Sanchez from Hollister, Ralph Marquez from San Juan Bautista, John Ceballos from Gilroy and Alfred Alciate.

The meeting is open to the public and begins at 5:30 PM next Tuesday in the CMAP building at 7500 Monterey St.
