The Gilroy Police Department has had continual massive success with its DUI/driver's license checkpoints and has scheduled another one for May 25 at an undisclosed location.
Sobriety and driver's license compliance screenings will be held from 9 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. the next morning.
Because of the holiday weekend, additional DUI enforcement will be all over town, making sure Gilroy roads stay safe.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), checkpoints have provided the most effective documented results of any of the DUI enforcement strategies, while also yielding considerable cost savings of $6 for every $1 spent.
