Local High Fire Risk Advisory For Gilroy

Temperatures in Gilroy over the next few days are expected to be in the low-to-mid 70s, with winds around 15 miles per hour.

GILROY, CA — Gilroy was placed under a notice of local high fire risk beginning Wednesday through July 5th, with winds picking up, increasing the threat of wildfires.

Residents and visitors were urged to take “extreme caution” due to “extremely dry conditions.” Residents in high fire risk areas were told to prepare for wildfires and have an evacuation plan ready.

The city also urged caution ahead of the Fourth of July holiday. Only fireworks labeled “safe and sane” are allowed in Gilroy, but they are prohibited in high fire risk Wildland Urban Interface areas.
