Hate Crime Investigation Launched After Gilroy School Vandalized

Police said three suspects entered the campus at night, painted hateful graffiti throughout the school and ransacked several classrooms.

GILROY, CA — Gilroy police are investigating a recent vandalism case at a Gilroy high school as a potential hate crime.

According to police, three unidentified suspects entered Christopher High School around 11:40 p.m. Monday, ransacking classrooms and spraying hateful graffiti on walls throughout the campus. The department's school resource officer is investigating the case and working with school staffers to identify the culprits.

"The Gilroy Police Department takes these acts very seriously, and it is being investigated as a hate crime," the department wrote. "We are committed to ensuring the safety of our children and schools and will continue to collaborate closely with the Gilroy Unified School District and the staff at Christopher High School."
