Morgan Hill Sexual Assault Suspect Accused In 3 Crimes: SJ Police

SJ Police said the suspect on 3 occasions picked up sex workers from Vallejo, Richmond and Fresno before assaulted them.

MORGAN HILL, CA — A 24-year-old Morgan Hill man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault in connection with crimes reported by Vallejo, Richmond and Fresno victims, the San Jose Police Department said. The 18- and 19-year-olds' identities are being withheld.

Luis Cuevas Gomez was taken into custody on charges of sexual assault, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, robbery, criminal threats as well as lewd and lascivious acts.

Detectives investigated three cases spanning June 28 to Aug. 29 in which the suspect picked up sex workers in the area of First and Keyes streets in San Jose, drive them to a nearby secluded parking lot where he physically and sexually assaulted them. In one case, the suspect pulled out a firearm.

A follow up investigation by the sexual assault team detectives led to the identification of the suspect, who was arrested on Thursday by a covert unit at his residence in Morgan Hill. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
