Firefighters Stop Forward Progress Of Morgan Hill Fire: 5-Acres
A fire in Morgan Hill had spurred evacuations and sent a massive smoke plume above Santa Clara County.

MORGAN HILL, CA — Firefighters were "aggressively" working to quell a fire that had burned at least five acres in Morgan Hill on Friday afternoon. Crews were able to stop forward progress of the blaze and gain 10 percent containment around 3:30 p.m.
The fire, which was reported shortly after 1:15, was threatening more than a dozen structures and ignited near Armsby Road, in an unincorporated area of Morgan Hill, approximately 12 miles from Gilroy.
Mandatory evacuation orders took effect in the area for Armsby Lane, Sycamore Drive, Hardy Lane and Tohara Way, with an evacuation center set up at the Morgan Hill Community Center at 17000 Monterey Road, according to Cal Fire.
