1. Man arrested for stabbing employee at Gilroy Safeway (ktvu.com) — A Safeway employee in Gilroy was hospitalized after being stabbed at the First Street store, and police quickly arrested a 31-year-old suspect nearby. Witnesses say the man entered an employee-only area, assaulted a female worker, and then allegedly stabbed a second employee who tried to intervene. The injured worker is reported to be in stable condition.
   

2. Family charged with running brothels in Santa Clara County (gilroydispatch.com) — Law enforcement say a San Jose family ran a network of brothels across Santa Clara County, including locations in Gilroy, and now face dozens of felony charges. Investigators allege the operation, disguised as massage parlors, trafficked many women and generated about $1 million annually. Authorities seized over $1.25 million and are offering services to workers recovered in the raids.
   

3. Drones will fly over parts of Central Coast for 3 weeks. Here's where and why (sanluisobispo.com) — PG&E will be flying inspection drones over parts of Gilroy this month to photograph power poles and lines and spot problems before winter storms hit. Flights will occur during daytime and last up to 45 minutes per location, but won’t affect your power. The utility says drones will only photograph company equipment, not homes or private property.
   

4. Dr. Bill Ciancio, 81, fired as SLV's boys basketball coach (fresnobee.com) — San Lorenzo Valley High’s boys basketball team has fired head coach Dr. Bill Ciancio just six games into his second season, elevating assistant and JV coach Jamal Taylor to lead the program. The Cougars, now under Taylor, are headed to the long-running Bob Hagen Memorial Tournament at Gilroy High, bringing extra intrigue for local fans watching visiting teams compete in town.
