San Martin Blaze Destroys Home, 1 To Hospital: Cal Fire

Several travel trailers were damaged in the 9:25 a.m. Saturday blaze, according to Cal Fire.

SAN MARTIN, CA — One person was hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a house fire Saturday morning that spread to nearby trailers and vegetation in San Martin.

The blaze, reported at 9:25 a.m., destroyed a home at 14305 Center Ave., according to Cal Fire spokeswoman Pam Temmermand.

Several travel trailers were also damaged in the fire and a small area of brush was also scorched.

The blaze was contained at noon and fire crews were still overhauling the scene as of 1 p.m. Saturday.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, Temmermand said.Cal Fire sent four fire engines to the scene, and the San Jose Fire Department also sent an engine. Crews from Morgan Hill Fire Department and South Santa Clara County Fire also responded, Temmermand said.
