Two Dozen Kids Receive Bikes From Santa Clara Co. Sheriff's
Big smiles all the way around from 24 kids in three Santa Clara Co. schools when they received new bikes. And no assembly required.
GILROY, CA --Christmas came early Friday for 24 children in three area schools as the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department presented the lucky recipients with brand-new spanking bicycles with helmets to enjoy.
The presentation was part of the Global Children Foundation, which paid for the gifts. The philanthropic organization was established in 1998 during an economic crisis in Korea. It has since raised $3.8 million in the past 20 years assisting with the betterment of 504,000 children in 37 countries.
The children, which attend Rucker Elementary in Gilroy, Luther Burbank School in San Jose and San Martin Elementary in Morgan Hill, also gave a little pledge to “always wear their helmets.” The pledge at the sheriff's offices on Younger Avenue was led by sheriff's Lt. Thea Lera.
