10 Years of Demonstrating for Peace: Healdsburg Group Observes Anniversary
Thursday night vigil from 6 to 7 p.m. at Healdsburg Plaza.
Healdsburg Peace Project will observe the 10th anniversary of the group's weekly peace vigil from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Healdsburg Plaza.
"For 10 years -- 120 months -- 521 weeks, we have stood in opposition to the wars, without missing one week," organizers said this week in an email.
"On Thursday, Sept. 20, we will sadly mark nearly 10 years of war, but we will also celebrate our 10 years of opposition -- of persistence, of fellowship, and the successes we have had.
"We have not stopped the war, but the strength of opposition has so far prevented the U.S. from expanding the war even more broadly," the organizers said.

"For instance, had the anti-war movement not kept going, Bush and Cheney would have realized their clearly stated goal of attacking Iran, and that war would still be raging," the email added.
Residents and group members are invited to join the 10h anniversary vigil from 6 to 7 p.m. along the West edge of the Healdsburg Plaza, on Healdsburg Avenue.
