4 Candidates Vying For Sonoma County Sheriff
Former Healdsburg police Chief Kevin Burke is among four candidates seeking election as the county's next sheriff.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Four people have filed campaign finance documents to run for Sonoma County sheriff in the June 7 primary elections, including one who announced his candidacy on Monday, according to the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters.
Former Healdsburg Police Chief Kevin Burke announced Monday that he will seek the seat of current Sheriff Mark Essick, who's not seeking reelection.
Others who have filed campaign finance documents include Dave Edmonds, Eddie Engram and Carl Tennenbaum.

Edmonds is retired from the sheriff's office, where he spent 32 years including six as a captain.
Engram is currently the assistant sheriff in Sonoma County and Tennenbaum is a retired San Francisco police officer, where he served for 32 years.

Burke served as police chief in Healdsburg from 2011 to 2021. He has a law degree from the University of California at Berkeley and worked as a prosecutor before joining the Los Angeles Police Department.
The deadline for candidates to file paperwork and pay the filing fee to be placed on the ballot opens Feb. 14 and closes March 11.
