400-Acre Fire Burning Above North Bay

LAKE COUNTY, CA — A 400-acre fire was burning Monday north of the North Bay in Lake County.

The Lake Fire started mid-afternoon Sunday south of Borax Lake and had reached 401 acres as of 11:25 a.m. Monday, with 40 percent containment.

“This is the largest wildfire in the CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit in 2025,” the agency said in an incident update late Monday morning. “Prior to this fire igniting Sunday afternoon, our Unit had only seen 240 wildfires burn a total of 518 acres.”

A firefighter was injured Sunday evening and was taken to a local hospital. One outbuilding was destroyed, with a second structure also impacted.

More than 3,000 people were under evacuation orders Sunday, but the orders were downgraded to warnings that were lifted that evening.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation Monday, and 150 personnel were responding to the fire.
