Controversy Over Michelin-Starred SingleThread's New Luxury Inn Coming To Healdsburg
Residents complain a new inn is putting luxury dining for visitors over Healdsburg residents.
HEALDSBURG, CA — The Michelin-starred restaurant SingleThread has become a wine country destination and Healdsburg point of pride.
However, the newest plans to expand are creating friction in the town that is home to the restaurant and inn, where dinner and a room can run well over $1,000.
The new inn will sit on the banks of the Russian River in what was the former River Belle Inn, a Healdsburg mansion first built in 1895 as the home of American wine industry pioneer Isabelle Simi Haigh, and later transformed into a luxury bed and breakfast, according to industry reports.

After a renovation, the property will reopen as The Selvedge, A SingleThread Inn, with 10 bedrooms in late 2026.
"The 68 Front Street address has a storied lineage, and the property is idyllically perched on the gorgeous banks of the Russian River," co-owner Tony Greenberg said in a statement.

"The Selvedge will welcome guests who want to experience all that Sonoma has to offer with a new immersive and deeply meaningful bespoke hospitality experience, orchestrated by the SingleThread and Vertice team. Most importantly it continues our mission to foster deeper and more meaningful relationships with our guests, the local community, our team and wider global agricultural, culinary and hospitality communities," he said.
However, the new project is not getting the welcome he might have expected.
A group of 60 people wrote to Vertice saying they are concerned that the inn is creating "luxury visitor dining at the expense of local residents," according to reports.
In addition to Healdsburg, Greenberg's portfolio includes the Hudson Yards in Manhattan, the world's largest private real estate development project at over 14 million square feet.
Greenberg is CEO of Vertice Hospitality, which manages SingleThread and other properties.
Vertice has bought the lease on at least two other empty properties near SingleThread, including the now empty Raven Film Center.
The Selvedge will be an inn under the SingleThread brand, managed by Brianna Davis and Chef Kyle Knox, both associated with SingleThread.
Announcements make no mention of the husband and wife founders of SingleThread, Katina and Kyle Konnaughton.
