Expect Delays Saturday On Roads During Bike To Hope Race

PETALUMA, CA — Be on the lookout for Bike to Hope racers starting tomorrow morning from Lagunitas Brewery and the road closures intended to keep them safe but that will slow down motorists.

The race is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., but is split into multiple legs.

A 65-mile race will launch the event at 8 a.m., a 35-mile race then starts at 9:30 a.m. and a 10-mile race follows at 10 a.m.

The affected areas — beginning and ending at Lagunitas Brewery — include North McDowell Boulevard, Old Redwood Highway, Stony Point Road, Industrial Avenue, and Corona Road.

All three races will depart form the Lagunitas Brewery, traveling north-bound on North McDowell Boulevard. The northbound direction will be closed briefly to traffic.

Each race will continue to Old Redwood Highway.

Racers will turn east-bound Old Redwood Highway until the they leave city limits.

The cyclists in each race will return to Petaluma by coming south-bound on Stony Point Road to Industrial Avenue, then ride East on Corona Road, then turn north-found North McDowell to finish at Lagunitas.

Additional cyclists will be on the roadways for the event.

Motorists should pay extra attention and use caution when driving in these areas.

The Police Department will be working this event to reasonably accommodate any traffic related issues. Anyone who cannot avoid the area, should allow extra travel time.
