Jason Boaz Hired As Healdsburg Fire Chief

The City of Healdsburg has hired Jason Boaz as Fire Chief, a man who has spent 16 years with the Healdsburg Fire Department.

HEALDSBURG - The City of Healdsburg has given its Interim Fire Chief the full-time job.

Jason Boaz, a firefighter with almost twenty years of experience in the field - 16 of those in Healdsburg - has been hired as as the Fire Chief for the Healdsburg Fire Department.

According to information provided by the City, Boaz was hired in 1997 as a reserve firefighter, where he also worked in the Fire Prevention Department.

In 1999, officials say Boaz left for a position at Skywalker Ranch Fire Brigade in Marin County, and then worked out of state as a Firefighter for the Boise City Fire Department.

In 2002, officials say he returned to Healdsburg as an engineer and was promoted to captain in 2005.

Last October he was appointed Interim Fire Chief.

“I have been working toward this goal my entire career. I am excited and honored to be in this position and look forward to continuing my service as Fire Chief in the City of Healdsburg,” Boaz said in a statement.

Boaz's bio states he is a qualified Incident Commander, Hazardous Materials Technician, Swiftwater Rescue Technician and Fire Instructor.

He has a Bachelor's degree in Ethics and Public Policy from the University of California Santa Barbara and is currently finishing up a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Sonoma State University.

Boaz is a Sonoma County native, but has spent most of his life in the Healdsburg community. His father worked for the Healdsburg Water Department and retired in 2005 after 22 years with the City.
