🌱 Kardashians Take Healdsburg + Restaurant Re-Opening + Pet Costumes
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Healdsburg.

Hello, my people! It's me, Simone, your host of the Healdsburg Daily — back in action after a brief hiatus with a fresh newsletter for you. Today's issue is full of all the most important things to know about what's been happening in town, including...
- Two very famous folks spotted at the Montage last week
- The local shop where pet costumes are selling like hotcakes
- A re-opening announcement from The Wurst restaurant downtown
But first, your daily weather:
- Wednesday: Mostly sunny and weirdly hot. High: 96 Low: 52.
- Thursday: Partly sunny. Cooling down a little, but still weirdly hot. High: 89 Low: 48.
Also: Meteorologists tell the Press Democrat that this "roller coaster" weather pattern is "due to a high pressure system strengthening over the Great Basin." We should see temps "plunge back down to the 60s by the weekend," the paper reports — and there's even "a 15% chance for light rain in the North Bay as the cold front passes through Saturday." Air over Healdsburg:

Here are the top 3 stories in Healdsburg today:
- Surely you've heard by now that Kim Kardashian and her power-mom Kris Jenner were in Healdsburg last week. They were interviewed by Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon at the bank's big annual "Builders and Innovators" conference, held at the Montage Healdsburg, according to Business Insider. "That Solomon was rubbing elbows with celebrities and racing executives just days before word emerged about a large-scale shake up at the Wall Street bank has angered some insiders and renewed questions about Solomon's leadership," Business Insider reports. The shakeup being a restructuring of the company that "will take the number of business divisions to three from four" and "shift fortunes for the Goldman partners who run the bank's businesses." TBH I'm not quite sure what any of that means, but yeah — the Kardashians did Healdsburg last week. Says the Shop Local Healdsburg Instagram account: "Of course we’re [curious] to know what they ordered to eat and drink, and if they shopped local during their visit 💫." (Sonoma Magazine & Shop Local Healdsburg via Instagram & Business Insider; paywall)
- After closing their doors over summer due to a "flood in the building," Healdsburg restaurant The Wurst — the sausage and burger joint next to the Healdsburg Bar & Grill on Matheson — is finally re-opening this week. "The worst is behind us and The Wurst is yet to come!" restaurant owners write in a cheeky Facebook announcement. "Join us Thursday the 20th for a soft opening and Friday the 21st we will be fully back to normal, with a few new additions to come ! We can’t wait to see you there and the Wurst family thanks all of you for sticking with us while we went through these hard times. See ya soon for the Wurst food in Healdsburg!" (Facebook Groups & Facebook Groups & Love Healdsburg via Instagram)
- Meanwhile, the Fideaux pet accessory shop at the corner of Healdsburg Avenue and North Street is positively thriving this Halloween season, according to the Press Democrat. The paper recently ran a trend piece on how local shoppers are "dropping cash at a record pace this trick-or-treat season." From the story: "Erin Morris, owner of Fideaux, a pet boutique in downtown Healdsburg, said she unveiled Halloween items in mid-September. Two weeks before Halloween, much of the inventory is gone. Shoppers have gobbled up her pet costumes — such as pumpkins, skeletons, butterfly wings and aliens — and Halloween-themed treats and toys. 'In the last three to four years, people are more into Halloween,' Morris said. 'A lot more people have dogs that are like their kids, and they want to dress them up and do fun stuff with them.'" Perhaps we'll see some of the fruits at the Healdsburg animal shelter's big "Howl-O-Ween" pet parade and costume contest this Saturday afternoon on the plaza... From my notebook:
- Fitch Street will be blocked off through 4 p.m. today between North and Piper streets as Healdsburg City Electric crews do some maintenance work. "Please choose alternate routes and pay particular attention to construction signage and the direction of workers," the city says. (Healdsburg Patch)
- Seeing smoke to our northwest? Might be because local fire officials are staging a 52-acre prescribed burn right now at a place called Hillside Ranch, located about halfway between Lake Sonoma and the coast. (Healdsburg Patch & Northern Sonoma County Fire District via Facebook)
- Healdsburg animal shelter officials are looking for the owner of a little brown "Zebra Finch" bird that they say was found near CVS in recent days. In a post that has since been removed from Nextdoor, a neighbor said the bird actually flew into the store. (Nextdoor & Nextdoor)
- The animal shelter is also looking for the owner of this white tabby kitten found on "Winding Creek Way near Montepulciano Rd. in Healdsburg." (Humane Society of Sonoma County via Facebook)
- As well as this adorable "pit bull mix puppy reportedly found on West Grant Street near Healdsburg Avenue by Healdsburg Montessori School." (Humane Society of Sonoma County via Facebook)
That's it for today. I'll be back tomorrow with more!
