Mother Injured In Apartment Fire In Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA, CA — A mother suffered burn injuries escaping a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in Santa Rosa on Saturday night, according to fire officials. The two-alarm fire, reported at 8:33 p.m., caused approximately $350,000 in damage to the two-story, 10-unit building at 2120 Jennings Ave., fire officials said.

In the unit where the fire started, the mother escaped through the front and her son through a back window. The mom was transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. Her son wasn't hurt.

Of the four units involved in the blaze, the two downstairs units suffered major interior fire, heat and smoke damage and the two upstairs units suffered exterior fire damage and interior smoke damage. All four units involved were deemed uninhabitable.

Residents of the other six units on site were allowed to return to their apartments, fire officials said. A total number of residents displaced wasn't provided.

The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes. The cause is under investigation.
