Would You Drink Wine From a Square Bottle?

It won't roll off a table, more can be packed into a box and you don't need a special wine rack to store it.

A Healdsburg winemaker is touting a new line of wine bottled in square wine bottles, which it calls the "first of its kind," "retro/chic" and eco-friendly.

"Introducing an alternative package is tricky," a press release quotes winemaker Virginia Marie Lambrix of VML and Truett-Hurst, as saying. "The wine inside has to over deliver and create a memorable impression for the consumer."

Truett-Hurst's new line of "California Square" wines include 2012 vintages of Russian River Valley Chardonnay, Paso Robles Cabernet and Paso Robles Three Red Blend, according to a press release.

The wines retail for $20, and are available at Total Wine & More's website, the press release states.

"The three wines were a huge smash when Truett-Hurst and Total Wine & More featured them in a sneak preview prior to the 65th annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles in late September," the press release says. "Stars like Modern Family's Ed O'Neil, The Good Wife's Chris Noth and Emmy winner Tony Hale of Veep raved about the wines during the event."
