Parent Turns In Child After Seeing Video Of Hermosa Beach Assault Online
At this time, there is no evidence showing the attack was premeditated, Hermosa police said.
HERMOSA BEACH, CA — After a video of a man being attacked by e-bikers in Hermosa Beach made rounds online, one of the children’s parents has turned them in, police announced Tuesday. Authorities are urging more parents to do the same.
Multiple surveillance videos that captured the Nov. 21 incident show a man being attacked by a group of people in an alley about a block from the pier, FOX 11 News reported. The group then fled on e-bikes, the TV station reported.
Through an ongoing investigation, police said they’ve determined the “incident was not a targeted assault." The man walked past his intended location, then initiated contact with the juveniles, according to police.

Police said they’re continuing to investigate the events that led to the altercation.
The man spoke with the officers on Monday after his release from the hospital, police said, adding that they also spoke with the parent of the juvenile who contacted police after seeing the video of the assault on social media.
“HBPD is continuing its investigation and urges parents of the other juveniles involved, as well as any community members with relevant information, to contact Detective DiGenova at ndigenova@hermosabeach.gov,” police said.
