  1. Do you live in the Oak View neighborhood? Parking is a real challenge there, which impacts residents and businesses. The City announced Friday that “residents will have an opportunity to acquire a parking pass, for a monthly fee, to park at a nearby privately-owned parking structure.” It is a pilot program that will start July 1 and go through June 30, 2023. (City of HB)
  2. How hot was Thursday? Huntington Beach reached temperatures of 101 degrees Fahrenheit. The only place hotter in the OC was John Wayne Airport, with 103 degrees. (W. Sean Chamberlin)
  3. Backyard chicken owners are getting nervous about the bird flu virus. As of Wednesday, “some 23 million birds have been destroyed nationwide to control a highly pathogenic bird flu virus.” So far, the virus hasn’t made it to the state, but its progression across the country suggests that it could arrive. You can protect your backyard flock by preventing contact with “wild birds and other wildlife” and quarantining newcomers to the flock for 30 days. (Patch)
  4. The HB Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 117th Annual Gala on April 29 at the Waterfront Beach Resort. We learned Friday that the celebration will have “a Woodstock theme, live music, silent auction & much more entertainment.” (HB Chamber of Commerce)
  5. Join Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris today for a beach cleanup. She will be at Huntington Beach State Park beginning at 10 a.m. She is partnering with Orange County Coastkeeper. “You can prevent hundreds of pounds of trash from entering the marine environment.” Everyone meets at Lifeguard Tower 2, 22355 PCH.
