- An HB neighbor and her cat need help. The young animal “has cancer and needs medical treatment, but (the owner) cannot afford the treatment fees.” So, she partnered with the Magic Bullet Fund to receive national exposure for her fundraising effort. As of Sunday, donors have raised $1,071.14 of $1,520. (Magic Bullet)
- Did you know that OCTA partners with the Chamber of Commerce to help businesses “within the I-405 Improvement Project corridor!” The goal is to make customers aware of local retailers and service providers in these areas. There are already several local businesses participating, such as Dr. Thuc Tu, CNB Mortgage, and the Silk Noodle Bar. (OCTA)
- If you’re serious about exploring rollerskating, the city wants to help. Insiders recommend, “Huntington Beach's 10-mile oceanfront paved path stretches from the Santa Ana River up to Sunset Beach.” On Friday, we also learned that Surf City Skates rents gear, which means you can try out the hobby without investing too much. (Surf City USA)
- Where can you get the best pancakes in the Golden State? We learned on Saturday that you should head to Uncle Bill's Pancake House in Manhattan Beach. Reviewers gushed about “pancakes plus a view of the water . . . The banana nut pancakes come as a stack of three and taste just like warm banana bread.” (Newsbreak)
- On Friday, at around 8:30 a.m., first responders headed to the Dana Point Harbor. A driver had mistaken the accelerator for the brake, “and wound up teetering on a jetty.” The driver of the Tesla was not hurt. (NBC)
