How Much Rain Did Laguna Niguel Get During Wednesday's Storm?

The heaviest rainfall was concentrated in the Orange County mountains and near the water, Orange County Public Works officials say.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — After heavy rains and storm conditions wreaked havoc across Orange County roadways and neighborhoods Wednesday, the clouds have begun to part — for now.

Across the county, most Orange County cities saw between .05 and one inch of rain, the Orange County Public Works Department reported. South Orange County communities and coastal towns saw the most rain, with Coto de Caza gathering over an inch of rain and the Westminster Channel drawing in 1.01 inches of rain.

  • Rancho Santa Margarita reported 1.02 inches of rain in Coto de Caza, and 1.18 inches of rain in Holy Jim Canyon.
  • Laguna Beach reported .35 inches of rain at the Laguna Coastal Watershed.
  • Mission Viejo also reported .55 inches of rain at the Aliso Creek Watershed.
  • Newport Beach reported .31 inches of rain at the Newport Bay Watershed.
  • Lake Forest reported between .35 inches and .20 inches of rain between the Bee Canyon Watershed and the Sand Canyon Watershed, respectively.
  • Laguna Niguel reported .63 inches of rain at the San Juan Creek Watershed.
  • Dana Point reported .47 inches of rain at the Dana Point Ocean Institute.
