DANA POINT, CA —Orange County authorities cautioned residents of heavier-than-average precipitation returning to the region this Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

According to weather experts, the storm will likely bring heavy rains, localized flooding and even thunderstorms when it starts Wednesday night.

“A wetter, colder and windier pattern will begin by Thursday, with periods of heavy rain. Localized flooding is expected, as well as travel disruptions for the morning commute.”

Residents can expect also expect periods of gusty winds from the coastal waters to the deserts, with the fastest winds occurring near the immediate coast and mountain desert slopes.

On Thursday, residents can expect rain in the morning with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. The temperature will likely peak at 62 degrees on the coast while ranging from 59 to 62 degrees farther inland.

The showers are expected to follow residents through Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the National Weather Service reported.
