9 DUI Motorists Nabbed At Lake Elsinore, Wildomar Checkpoints: RSO

LAKE ELSINORE-WILDOMAR, CA — Deputies in Lake Elsinore and Wildomar conducted weekend DUI checkpoints that resulted in multiple arrests.

The first operation was held from 8 p.m. Sept. 6 through 3 a.m. Sept. 7 on Clinton Keith Road and Inland Valley Drive in Wildomar.

Four suspected DUI motorists were arrested during the event that screened 533 vehicles.

In addition to the arrests, nine people were cited for being unlicensed drivers and two people were cited for driving on a suspended license. Eleven other citations were handed out for various other violations, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

One person was arrested following a police chase. It's not clear what the charge was.

In total, 13 vehicles were towed during the operation.

A Lake Elsinore DUI checkpoint was also held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 7 on Riverside Drive and Stadium Way, according to the sheriff's department.

More than 900 vehicles were screened. Firty-eight citations were issued, including 36 to unlicensed drivers. Fourteen vehicles were towed and three misdemeanor warrants were served, the department said.

Five people were arrested for driving under the influence.

Drivers charged with DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Deputies based out of the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station manned the operations.
