Canyon Lake Man Dies After Crashing Through Fence, Into Boulder
CHP officials say a 13-year-old girl was in the passenger seat when the deadly wreck occurred.
CANYON LAKE, CA — A man killed when he possibly suffered a cardiac event or other health disorder and his pickup truck slammed into a boulder in the Perris area was identified Monday as a 74-year-old Canyon Lake resident.
Edward Strong was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 7 p.m. Sunday in the 27700 block of Greenwald Avenue, just south of Lari Mark Street.
California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Lassig said Strong was driving his 2015 Nissan Frontier south on Greenwald at roughly 45 to 50 mph with a 13-year-old Canyon Lake girl in the right front passenger seat when the wreck occurred.

"As [Strong] passed Lari Mark Street, he suddenly steered his vehicle sharply to the left for reasons which are under investigation," Lassig said in a news release. "The Nissan traveled through a wall and iron fence. The Nissan traveled into an open dirt field before colliding with a large rock."
Witnesses removed Strong from the vehicle and initiated CPR because he was unconscious and not breathing, according to Lassig.
