CHP Releases Preliminary Details About Crash Involving RivCo Deputy
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the two-vehicle crash, according to the CHP.
MEAD VALLEY, CA — The California Highway Patrol has released preliminary details about the Aug. 27 injury crash in Mead Valley that involved a Riverside County sheriff's deputy.
According to the CHP, the two-vehicle crash was reported just before 10 p.m. at Brown and Oakwood streets.
A male driver was headed east on Oakwood in a Toyota Camry while the deputy was driving north on Brown in his Ford Explorer patrol vehicle when the crash occurred. The two streets intersect in an area dotted with residences.

The Toyota driver and his passenger suffered moderate to major injuries in the crash, while the deputy sustained minor injuries, according to the CHP.

The CHP reported that "alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision," though the crash cause remains under investigation by the agency.
