Injured Female Hiker Rescued From Cleveland National Forest Trail

The hiker was down on the Skyline Trail, roughly a mile into the forest, just south of Corona.

CORONA, CA — A hiker suffered an injury that immobilized her on a trail in the Cleveland National Forest south of Corona Friday, prompting fire crews to rescue her.

The "hiker down" call was received at 1:25 p.m. Friday along the Skyline Trail, roughly a mile into the forest, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that crews from the county and Corona Fire Department initiated a search and rescue, with firefighters hiking into the federal preserve shortly before 2 p.m.

About 2:20 p.m., the woman was located and carried down the trail to an ambulance, after which she was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment of unspecified minor to moderate injuries to the lower extremities, according to reports from the scene.

There was no word regarding how the victim became injured.
