Lake Elsinore Man Dies While Being Held In Intake Sobering Cell
Joshua Frank Swart, 41, was pronounced dead less than four hours after his arrest.

MURRIETA, CA — A parolee from Lake Elsinore died while being held in an "Intake Sobering Cell" at French Valley's Cois Byrd Detention Center, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported late Monday night.
Joshua Frank Swart, 41, was discovered unresponsive at the facility by deputies at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, the department reported.
Despite efforts to revive him, Swart was pronounced dead, according to the agency.

"There were no signs of foul play," the agency said. There was no information on possible alleged substance(s) in Swart's system.
According to jail records, Swart was on parole at the time of his 10:35 a.m. Aug. 18 arrest on Palomar Street in Wildomar. He was booked on suspicion of paraphernalia possession, trespassing, and hit-and-run resulting in property damage — all misdemeanors — and violating the terms of his parole, a felony.

Court records show Swart had a criminal history in Riverside County dating back to 2007.
