Man ID'd In Deadly Crash In Storm Drain Near RivCo Lake

A 27-year-old driver died after his vehicle plunged into a storm wash on Thursday afternoon.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A man who died Thursday after plunging down an embankment into a storm drainage near a Riverside County lake was identified by officials.

Edward Pluma, 27, of Perris, was identified by the Riverside County Sheriff after his family was notified.

Firefighters were called to the intersection of Gavilan and Cajalco roads, just east of Lake Mathews, around 12:47 p.m. on Thursday after receiving calls about the crash, according to a spokesperson for the Riverside County Fire Department/CalFire.

Pluma, the only person inside the vehicle, was pronounced dead shortly after first responders arrived, the spokesperson told Patch.
