RIVERSIDE, CA — A 44-year-old woman who was fatally struck on the Riverside (91) Freeway earlier this week was running in traffic lanes when she was hit by a minivan driver, authorities said Friday.

Patricia Grady of Riverside was fatally injured shortly after 8 p.m. Monday on the eastbound 91, just west of Van Buren Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officer Javier Navarro told City News Service several motorists passed Grady as she was "running in the lanes of traffic," prompting them to call 911.

Patrol units were rolling to the location when a Kia Sedona hit the victim in the slow lane, hurling her onto the Tyler Street onramp for the eastbound 91, according to Navarro.

"The driver immediately stopped and attempted to render first aid," he said.
