UPDATE: School Fire Contained

Firefighters were able to quickly knock down a small fire at school housed in Sunset Community Church.

Firefighters were able to quickly knock down a school fire sparked by workers welding a portion of the building, said Jeff Peters, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department battalion chief.

The school is housed at at 2200 Arroyo Road.

Emergency crews were sent to the blaze at 1:25 p.m. and were able to contain the fire in 20 minutes, Peters said.

The fire was contained to the front side of the building.

Initial reports said about 75 students were evacuated during the fire.

However, a teacher at the school in the comments section below said the building was vacant at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
