Woman Crossing Street Dies After Being Hit By Car In Long Beach, Police Say
The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police say.
LONG BEACH, CA — A woman crossing a street died after being hit by a sedan early Thursday morning, Long Beach police say.
Officers responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian in the area of East Anaheim Street and Rose Avenue at about 6:18 a.m., the Long Beach Police Department said.
When officers arrived, they found a woman in the roadway, according to police.

Officers tried to help the woman until Long Beach Fire Department rescuers took over caring for her, police said. Rescuers took the woman to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Initial investigation shows that a 2022 Honda Accord was driving on East Anaheim Street when it hit the woman, who was crossing the street in an unmarked crosswalk, police said.

“Speed, impaired, and distracted driving do not appear to be contributing factors (in) this collision,” police said, adding that the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The woman’s identity is being held until her next of kin is notified, police said.
