Botched 7-Eleven Robbery Leads To Hours-Long Standoff In Long Beach

The department's SWAT Team and a K-9 unit are at the scene and are attempting to coax the suspect into surrendering, NBC 4 reports.

LONG BEACH, CA — An early-morning standoff between Long Beach Police Department officers and a barricaded suspect is entering its fourth hour in Long Beach Tuesday morning.

Officers from the police department were flagged down near First Street and Broadway regarding a person with a gun at approximately 2:03 a.m. Tuesday. According to the preliminary investigation, a man entered a 7-Eleven and robbed the store, police said.

The employees were able to run out of the store and flag down police officers. The suspect is inside the store and refusing to surrender, police added.
