💧 Water Crisis Poll! 💧
Residents are limited to watering their landscapes two days per week, before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m. What else should the City do to deal with the water crisis? Please let me know your thoughts! So far, 19.1% want to mandate drought-resistant landscaping, 21.3% want to recycle wastewater for irrigation, another 39.3% want to build a desalination plant at the coast, and 20.2% don’t believe residential water use contributes to the water crisis.

Here are the top five stories in Los Angeles today:

  1. A 51-year-old man experiencing homelessness assaulted a former Olympic volleyball player on Saturday in downtown L.A. The man “ran up out of nowhere and threw a metal object at her,” which left her with head fractures and an “eye nearly swollen shut.” (ABC)
  2. Unite Here announced Monday that its members have authorized a strike, demanding "a fair new union contract." This might affect you if you’re going to the 2022 MLB All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium and intend to visit the concession stands. (CBS)
  3. A free-agent offensive tackle player was arrested by the Sheriff's Department at LAX on Saturday. He allegedly carried an unloaded concealed gun. The athlete has since posted bond and is expected to appear in court on August 3. (The Athletic)
  4. Gas prices are going down! “The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Monday for the 27th consecutive day and 28th time in 29 days, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $6.148.” Of course, if you check out my listing above, you will find gas stations where you pay considerably less. (Patch)
  5. Mark your calendars! If you are a small business owner, the Small Business Rental Assistance Grant Program reopened its application program on Monday. You may qualify for up to $15,000 to “help pay for any rent fees owed.” However, you only have until July 20 to apply! (NBC)
